Building Improvements at St Chad’ds Surgery

It’s not often we have the opportunity to make changes to our building but, taking account of some of the feedback we’ve received from patients with regards to our reception and waiting room at our St Chad’s Surgery, we are pleased to announce several changes to the facilities which should provide improvements for our patients. Work started on 8th March to provide:-

• 2 new consulting rooms, easing our current shortage of rooms on busy days
• A refurbished childhood immunisation room
• A new entrance arrangement, including electrically operated doors for improved disabled access, and a heat lobby
• New open plan reception desk extending into the waiting area
• Extension to the existing main waiting area providing an overall increase in floor space over the 2 previous waiting rooms
• Improvements in access to the disabled toilet
• Separate room for confidential discussions

Work on the new consultation rooms should be complete by the end of March with work on the new entrance and waiting room starting shortly after.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely we will be able to reuse the large murals in the present children’s waiting area but these have all been photographed and we will endeavour to display these somewhere in the new waiting area.

In the meantime we apologise for any noise or inconvenience but trust patients will appreciate that this small amount of disruption will lead to lasting benefits for all patients, providing a much lighter and open feel to our reception area which is more welcoming for everyone.
